The Moon Walk is situated at the base of the Clock Tower and links the face of the clock with the face of the moon and the way the moon marks time, affects the ebb and flow of the tides and mirrors the progression of life on the bay. The moon faces set into the promenade are the same size as the clock face and illustrate twelve phases of the moon, each representing one month of the lunar calendar. The pull of the moon’s gravity has a great influence on the sea’s tides and sand ripples, cast from the adjacent beach, have been combined with the lunar phases to reflect this. The blue crushed glass Star Map features around 200 starfish casts, each representing a star in the northern hemisphere - knowledgable star gazers will be able to locate the North Star.
